Head coach of table-topping Nigeria Professional Football League side Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Abdul Maikaba, has been pencilled down to join the Super Eagles technical crew as one of the assistant coaches.
Official sources revealed that in line with the Nigeria Football Federation's resolve not to employ full-time assistant coaches, Maikaba will get his chance as a reward for his fine performance as coach of Wikki Tourists.
"Maikaba has done well and his efforts have not gone unnoticed. We want him to develop himself further working with national coaches and players. He will be drafted into the Super Eagles camp when a new foreign coach joins the team," the source told reporters.
"We may have to drop some of the present coaches to make way for new ones. Last time out in France, we took Imama Amakakpabo and Kennedy Boboye as assistants to Salisu Yusuf to play Mali and Luxembourg. That may be the case in subsequent games."
Only recently, Salisu Yusuf was reported in the media that he would not play second fiddle to any coach as an assistant again, only to withdraw his words later.
