The Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, Chief Solomon Chukwu, hassaid that there is no affiliation between members of MASSOB and the Niger Delta Avengers.
Chukwu, who spoke to newsmen on Thursday through his National Director of Information, Mr. Sunday Okereafor, said that while Avengers were armed, MASSOB members were armless and non-violent.
Chukwu said that MASSOB was not supportive of the activities of Avengers, describing their actions as ill, obnoxious and nefarious.
He said, “Avengers are militants. Their philosophy, ideology, concept, mission and vision are quite different from MASSOB’s.”
However, the MASSOB leader called on the international community to discountenance all Biafran campaigns by one Mr. Uche Madu, who he said, had been parading himself as a factional leader of MASSOB.
He noted that the said Uche Madu had, long ago, been expelled from the group owing to his anti-MASSOB activities.
Chukwu added, “Uche Madu is just hiding under the cloak of MASSOB. He should be watched. It is very unfortunate and not far from the truth that there are some politicians behind him, who are using him to achieve their inordinate ambition.”
He noted that the said Uche Madu was conspicuously absent on May 30, 2016 when the group celebrated the Biafra Remembrance Day and wondered why a person like him who claimed to be MASSOB leader was not seen during the celebration.
