Though RHYTHM FM and Silverbird TV are currently off air, activities are normal at the Silverbird Cinemas located in Ikeja City Mall, Lagos.
As at 2pm on Thursday when TheCable visited the film house, fun seekers were seen trooping in and out unhindered.
Earlier on Thursday, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) took over assets belonging to the family of Ben Bruce, the lawmaker representing Bayelsa east senatorial district.
The agency alleged that the Silverbird Group was indebted to the tune of N11 billion.
The companies affected were Silverbird Galleria at 133 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, Silverbird Galleria at Plot No 1161, Central Area Cadastral Zone AOO, Abuja; and Silverbird properties at Abonnema Wharf Road and Abali Park in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The agency’s action affected the telecommunications outfit of the company, as Silverbird and RHYTHM FM were off air in Lagos, Abuja, and Rivers states.
DStv viewers who tuned to Channel 252 could also not access STV.
However, Bruce has expressed optimism that normalcy will be restored.
“I have been on an international flight and have only just landed. The situation is being resolved and things will be back to normal,” he wrote on Twitter.
“In 36 years, Silverbird has grown and like any body, it will face challenges. Tough times dont last. But we, as tough people, outlast them.”
