Our correspondent, who visited the school observed that the students came late to the school around 8:35 on Tuesday and headed to their various classes as their colleagues hailed them for their courage.
Many female Muslim students of the school wore hijab on their uniforms and some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria are in the school to monitor the reaction of the teachers to the mode of dressing of their children.
No student was chased out of the classes for appearing in different clothes and all the students irrespective of their chosen uniforms are being taught by their teachers.
Earlier, Justice Jide Falola of the Osun State High Court had on June 3 given a verdict that Muslim students should be allowed to wear hijab in all public schools in the state because it was part of their fundamental rights.
The CAN had held an emergency meeting following the judgment and threatened that it would direct Christian pupils to start wearing choir robes and other religious garments to schools should the state government implement the judgment. No matter how friendly one is with a goat, it will one day eat your yam. Why is Ingenious trying to divide a peaceful state along religion line? Can't somebody talk sense into the ears of this man? Majority of the schools in Osun state were and are still owned by Christian missionaries. Was Ogbeni voted into power on religious basis? What is wrong with these people calling themselves politicians. Ogbeni, please call yourself to order, Osun state belongs to all of us, Muslims, Christians and traditional believers!

ReplyDeleteNow the question is... does wearing a hijab violate the school uniform? Wearing a hijab on a school uniform is totally different from wearing a church garment. Except the uniform is worn over the garment.

ReplyDeleteI will be very happy to see christain students wearing church germent to school in line with uniform colour rather to nurtured and expose our children to sexual harrassment, and i believe the gov. Will not kick against that.bcs even in Holy Bible women are not allowed to expose there body.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people are so sentimental when it comes to issue that has to do with religion. I understand is a very sensitive issue. But look at it if it were the CAN that got the judgment as MSS did, it will be another story. Covering hair is fundamental right of muslim female even the bible preached same but live that for another time.... if those muslim female would not be allowed to cover their hair, it means you are forcing your ideology on them in multi-religious setting like nigera. We just have to tolerate ourselves and respect every body's believe. Unfortunately most of the people that fight on religious basis don't understand these holy books Quran and Bible if they did, there would be no issue. I pray for this country
ReplyDeleteI knw u r a Muslim, but why do Muslim send there children to Baptist school to wear hijab? If they want their children to wear hijab to school they should send them to Muslim school or better still community school nt christian missionary school. I went to Muslim secondary school and u can't try show that u are a christian or mention it without you being beaten up. So why do Muslim always look for one way or d other to cause trouble? N before u knw it anything u say will turn to you are abusing mohammed from dat they will start killing innocent pple
