Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, Tuesday night, said the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, is obsolete urged the public to discountenance statements from the group.
Spokesperson of the group, Brig Gen Mudoch Agbinibo in a statement, said: “We appeal to the general public and all sane minds on the activities of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to disregard all purported statements and misplaced threat emanating from disbanded criminal elements like the so-called MEND.”
It said the criminal elements in the outmoded group were “political sidekicks and desperations from Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Mr. Timipre Silva and their political paymasters to hold their political party to the jugular of the affairs of the Niger Delta Region.” Avengers claimed: “Our struggle is focused on the liberation of the People of Niger Delta from decades of divisive rule and exclusion.
We are watching keenly their regretful efforts at rebranding and regrouping criminal elements in the region for their short political gains and territories.
“The NDA is unperturbed, we have mandate that is clearly a departure of those old tactics of the defunct so-called MEND that was indulged in kidnapping, hostage taking, sea piracy, illegal oil bunkering, bank robberies and social crimes the likes of Boyloafs, Ateke Toms, were associated to in their days in the name of struggle. “The wind of change in the Niger Delta struggle has come; we are young, smart, and focused Niger Deltans.

Pretend that Niger Delta as a people need a more proactive approach to hold looting governors responsible, converge intellectual institutions of Niger Deltans, shun corruptions amongst themselves and stage state of the art protest against bad governance anywhere without the sentiments used with GEJ government. What has your previous agitators done with the proceeds from amnesty and pipeline security contracts? Did they build any industries, were they not busy kidnapping? The Americans who predicted Nigeria will not see more than 2015 as a nation only play on your mind. They didn't sell arms to the government but Russia, China and Germany are doing so.
