Head coach of Giwa Football Club Gbenga Ogunbote has resigned from his role as coach of the troubled side who are currently appealing their expulsion from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after failing to honour three consecutive games.
Ogunbote and his assistant Aminu Lawal were said to have resigned their role with the team in the early hours of Wednesday morning shortly before the commencement of their training session.
The former Gateway, Sunshine Stars,Sharks and Shooting Stars manager joined the club before the start of the season after guiding 3SC from relegation last season.
He is reportedly set to return back to the club following the departure of Kadiri Ikhana from the Ibadan based side.
Ogunbote wanted to leave the team earlier but was tied to the club as he was paid an upfront of three months salary before he assumed the role of head coach of the team.
Owned by factional president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Giwa, Giwa FC are still waiting for the League Management Company to communicate to them a date for their appeal against expulsion from the Nigeria Professional Football League.
