Novak Djokovic And Serena Williams Top Wimbledon Seeds

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are the top seeds for this year's Wimbledon.

Wimbledon gets underway on Monday with the draw set to take place on Friday at 10am and Murray has not reached the final since he won the title in 2013, while his other final appearance came in 2012 when he lost to Roger Federer.

The British number one has lost both Grand Slam finals to number one seed Djokovic this year and Wednesday's announcement confirms that the pair cannot meet at the All-England Club until a potentially record-equalling eighth slam final between them.

Djokovic heads to London as the first man since Jim Courier in 1992 to win the first two majors of the year and the red-hot favourite to add a fourth Wimbledon crown and third in succession to his collection of 12 Grand Slam titles.

The Serb has beaten Federer in each of the last two finals in SW19 and the Swiss great, seeking an 18th slam and first since 2012, will be seeded third in his bid for an eighth Wimbledon title.

Two-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka completes the top four with Rafael Nadal confirming that a wrist injury suffered at the French Open will keep him out of the Championships for the first time since 2009.

World number ten and last year's Wimbledon semi-finalist Richard Gasquet has been seeded seventh while 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic moves up from a world ranking of 13 to a seeding of ninth.

In the women's event, Serena Williams tops the seedings as she continues her bid to add to the 21 Grand Slam singles titles she has already won, putting her level with Steffi Graf.

The American has been beaten in the final of both majors this year as she bids to break Graf's record and has not won a slam since Wimbledon last year when she won her sixth title at the All-England Club.

French Open champion and last year's beaten Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza is second seed, Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska is third and Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber is seeded fourth.

Johanna Konta is the only female Briton seeded, at 17th she is the first British women since Jo Durie in 1984 to earn a place amongst the top rankings

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is seeded 11th and five-time champion Venus Williams is seeded ninth.
