New militant group emerges, 'ULTIMATE WARRIORS OF NIGER DELTA' demands 60% oil bloc

As the federal government struggles with the menace of the Niger Delta Avengers, a new militant group, Ultimate Warriors of Niger Delta, has emerged with a threat to continue to attack oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta region unless the Nigerian government agreed to award 60 per cent oil blocs to the people of the region.

The new group which spoke for the very first time on Wednesday also demanded that the federal government allow the $16 billion Export Processing Zone otherwise called Delta Gas City project begin operations in earnest.

It, however, gave the government a two-week ultimatum to ensure that their demands were adequately met for a lasting ceasefire in the region.

Spokesperson of Ultimate Warrior, as it chose to be addressed, Sibiri Taiowoh, in a statement, said if the FG truly wants peace in the region, it should award 60 per cent oil bloc to indigenous people from the region as its primary demand for a ceasefire.

The group further asked for commencement of academic activities at Federal Maritime University established during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Warning further, it said failure to meet its demands, would warrant total shutting down of vital oil facilities including Chevron BOP, Okan Platform, MEREN Gas Gathering Compression Platform and Chevron Tank Farm.

The statement added, “We are also behind the recent pipeline bombing in the Niger Delta region and I can assure you we will not stop until the EPZ project and the Maritime University are totally completed and start operations.

“We want to be the ones to be safe guarding oil pipeline in our area so as to create more jobs for our people. We would resist any attempt to give surveillance contracts of pipeline in our backyard to foreigners. We want the pipeline jobs to be given to our indigenous people.”

“We also want 60 per cent of the oil blocs to be allocated to the Niger Deltans just as the Federal Government has also allocated 80 per cent to those who are not from the oil producing area and just as 50 per cent of the resource was used to develop the non-oil area when we were producing cocoa and groundnut as main economic resources, the same 50 percent should be use to develop the Niger Delta region because we are the ones suffering the brunt of oil pollution and degradation in the region”, it further added.

    1. Destroyed Prince. I don't know if you travelled to Niger Delta to see how the people of that states are suffering. No land to farm. No river to fish. No industries to get them employed. I can remember vividly as of early 90s there was no good education system in Niger Delta. Some parents have to send their children down to Lagos and Edo State to give their kids quality education. It was during Obasanjo regime that government start building schools for them. In all the Niger Deltans are sure ready to die cos they are already half dead with the suffering they are passing through. For me government should have a rethink and have a good table talk with these militant for peace to reign. They are sure ready to die.

    1. Please don't say what you don't know. These guys are not terrorist. They are fighting for what belong to them. They have demands that can be given to them by the government. Compare to the so called faceless boko haram. Those are the terrorist and not Niger Delta militants. They are not killing innocent civilians neither are they kidnapping and demanding ransome. Buhari think Obasanjo and Yar Adua were stupid to grant them amnesty. If he think fighting then will stop the menace then he should go ask Obasanjo what he pass through in the hands of these militant. So he can learn from.

  9. Seriously, all this nonsense must stop now. No group can be bigger than a nation. Any group bend to sabotage our economy and make life difficult for a common Nigerian is tagged a terrorist and enemy of the state thus should be treated as such. What is the outcome of the amnesty offered by the previous government? are we suppose to still have a single militant in our nation? That is why i dont buy the idea of negotiating with these criminals, you give rooms for others to come up and they wont stop at all. Imagine a bloody militant group threatening to launch a missile thus threatening the nation and FG played a sit down look attitude. FG should fully and militarily clamp on any group, be it boko haram, biafraud, and all these shit militant since they are now enemy of the state sabotaging our economy, hindering development and disturbing peace of Nigeria. Long live Nigeria!

    2. Wonderful write up.We have no hope in our country my brother.we keep blaming the government for everything but we are a reflection of the leaders we elected. How can you justify paying militants not to break the law? How can they blame everyone but their own leaders who plundered the resources of their state without developing the region. They get more money from the monthly allocation but yet have nothing to show for it.If you want to show grievances, show your grievances to odili, show your grievance to Jonathan, show your grievances to diezani, show your grievances Tompolo who sold a land meant for the community for billions of naira, show your grievances to ibori and his family. We have a northern president and we all of a sudden have all this issues within a year of his administration.I am not from the north but I am honest enough that we have the right man for the job in the history of our nation. How can you justifybthe #60,000 amnesty payment to a bunch of criminals for doing nothing when the minimum wage is still #20,000 and some have yet to get paid in months. How can you sit there for free money without at least give the government, most especially the state government a timeline to address the development the region solely need. You talk about other people not from the region owning 80% of the oil bloc, pls don't cry on nairaland about it,attack those oil bloc and not the federal government owned one.You know the reasons why you are not attacking those privately owned ones!!!the owners of the privately owned ones settles you guys and pay you money monthly too make sure you don't vandalize their pipelines. This make it so obvious that it is about money. The federal government amnesty program should stop;you guys are taking money that should be earmarked for the development of the region.I will advocate not paying a bunch of jobless touts in lure of ear making that same money for the development of the region. The federal government need to stop worrying about human right violation and start dealing with by his people ruthlessly. The military need to start shooting on site.A lion doesn't negotiate with a sheep.I fully support developing the region and addressing all the grievances of the people, but not no free money for some bunch of militants who feel they can hold Nigeria to ransom

  11. I am a Rivers person and I tell u dat all these group are a bunch of greedy and selfish people seeking the increase of their pockets and being used by useless politician. Be bold remove ur mask and come to the drawing and make reasonable contribution on how to improve the Niger Delta rather than blowing pipelines that degrade and pollute our environment making our plants not to grow and killing the fish in our water ways and bringing about more diseases. Can all these merge and have a common front to make a demand. If u truly want to fight for the Niger Delta put a face like Ken Saro who fought like men u may not be killing us as book haram is doing to their but u are killing us a hundred times over by degrading our environment

    1. I think you are right, yes the government should listen to the Niger Deltans but the agitators need to take off the mask, come to the table with their demands and stop acting like criminals and causing more woes and troubles for the masses by their actions.

  12. Please, let us face squarely the issue of Niger Delta. In the early days of man, some Niger Deltans were living on land and because of their hobby of fishing, most of them decided to live in the islands and creeks. Unknowingly to them, oil was discovered while they had already lost their pride of place on land. So the people suffering there are generations after their forefathers had gone, they do not seem to know where to call their own. This is the major reason why there are no schools to attend and no Government presence in any form. Therefore, the only thing that can solve this problem is dialogue and not asking for oil blocks. Are they speaking some persons mind. These boys agitating for oil blocks, can they handle it. Please, my fellow Niger Deltans, let us be reasonable and be genuine in some of our demands and stop being sheepish.

  13. What i dont understand is, why suddenly that their son is no more in government that this present agitation surfaced. Has Buhari canceled any of developmental programms instituted by the pevious government? i.e amnesty, Niger delta commission, Ministry of Niger Delta, 13% derivation fund and normal monthly state grand not to mention internal generated revenue paid by these oil companies and their social responsibilities. All these funds goes to few pockets and they are still agitating for more. Bayelsa state is not as big as Dala and Tarauni LGA of Kano state put together out of the 44 LGA of the state. Just because the president is a Fulani northerner and a Muslim that is why all this recent madness that they never saw or happen during their son GEJ time is now happening. We shall see the end because all I know is that no amount of money can stop arm robber from robbing.

  15. Bunch of thieves and terrorists. Clearly these bunch of lazy idiots don't care about growing that region, they are all fighting for their pockets. 17 trillion went into Niger delta in 16 years? Who are the goats eating your yam? Identify and deal with them first, then come back to negotiate peacefully, or military action will be inevitable. Keep destroyiing your dead region. Olosi.
