Brother and manager of former Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, Emmanuel Ado, has said the death of his brother was destined by God Keshi and not even “10 million soldiers would have stopped it”.
Keshi, 54, died early Wednesday in the Midwest Nigerian city of Benin of a suspected heart attack.
“It is true, my brother has passed on. He has gone to meet his wife,” said Ado.
“It’s very painful, but it is what God has destined. Not even 10 million soldiers would have stopped it. But we give glory to God.”
In December 2015, Keshi lost his wife of 35 years after a prolonged battle with cancer.
He was scheduled to return to the family home in the United States of America today.
