Former militants under the umbrella of National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, on Friday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to clear up all outstanding allowances owned the former agitators by the Federal Government.
Disclosing in a statement in Abuja, the President of the group, Israel Akpodoro stressed that the payment of allowance will go a long way in dissuading youths from taking up violence and vandalism.
According to Akpodoro, the payment of the backlog will cushion the effect of the current economy as most families in the Niger Delta region depend on the monthly stipend from the office of the Amnesty Program for survival.
Akpodoro maintained that the payment would correct the erroneous impression that the Federal Government was out on a revenge mission due to the resurgence in the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA.
