Nigerian champions, Enyimba, square up South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in their second Group B CAF Champions League fixture in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Enyimba lost their first match 1-0 to Zamalek in Port Harcourt last week Sunday while Sundowns beat Algerian side ES Setif 2-0 in Algiers.
However, CAF banned Setif from the competition following incidences of violence by fans of the club.
Enyimba goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai, told our correspondent that they were ready for the match.
He said, “Sundowns are a very good side too and the match will be very tough given the standard of their league and their performance in the first match they played. But we will also do our best and give a good account of ourselves. The pitch will also be good and our coach is also tactically ready. We will do our best against them.”
Meanwhile, Sundowns winger, Keagan Dolly, has said they would ensure they win their two home matches against the Peoples Elephants and Zamalek to ensure their passage to the semifinals.
“Our next focus is the game against Enyimba. We are playing at home, in front of our supporters…we have to stick to what we are good at and just go for all three points,” Dolly told Supersports.
“For us it’s just to beat Enyimba at home now and try and get points as well. Considering that they lost their first game against Zamalek…it will be difficult but we want to win against them, I think that will put us in a good position. Obviously when we go away to Zamalek we want a point or three. We will stick to what we are good at and focus on ourselves.”
