Biafra: Buhari turning S-East, S-South people to ‘politically endangered species’- Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has condemned Monday’s killing of over 30 Igbo protesters, who were mainly members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), saying it appeared that President Muhammadu Buhari was turning the people of the South East and South South to “politically endangered species.”

He called on the international community to take note of the wanton killings being perpetrated by the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

A statement on Wednesday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said there was no justification whatsoever for the killing of over 30 Igbo youths just because they were marking “Biafra Day in memory of the former leader of the defunct Biafra Republic, the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.”

He said it was worrisome that Nigeria and its people had been more divided since the advent of Buhari’s government, adding that approach to civil unrests of any kind under the government was causing more security problems in the country.

The governor, who reiterated his avowed belief in the unity of Nigeria, said it was unspeakable for security men to have used life ammunitions against the Igbo protesters and went on to justify the murder of innocent Nigerians just because their views were different from those of the President.

“To even justify the killing by claiming that the Igbo youths protest was orchestrated in order to mar the first anniversary of Buhari’s government is to say the least, wicked and animalistic,” the governor said.

He said it was worrisome that more than 150 Igbo youths had been killed by Nigerian security operatives under the directive Buhari’s government from August 30, 2015 till date, adding that

“It appears that President Buhari has made up his mind to eliminate as many South East and South South people as possible and lovers of the corporate existence of Nigeria and its people should call the president to order.”

“I am alarmed that Nigerians who were only on peaceful protest could be shot at and killed by security agents and after the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians, security agents could demonstrate their heartlessness by coming up with justifications for the criminal act.

“One is however not surprised because every evil perpetrated by the Buhari-led government against Nigerians, especially those the presidents appears to hate have been justified by those who perpetrated them.

“We were in this country when over 1,000 Shiite Muslims were killed and buried overnight in Zaria, Kaduna State and the murder was justified. We were also here when over 400 Agatus were killed in Benue State and the President said nothing.

“The Monday killing of over 30 Igbo youths is therefore condemnable. Its justification is barbaric, heartless, crude and must be condemned by all lovers of unity of Nigeria and its people.

“I therefore wish to express my sympathy to the people of the South Eastern part of Nigeria and I urge them to remain resolute in their agitation for a Nigeria in which all Nigerians are treated equally irrespective of their tribe and religion.”

  1. Posterity is there for those wild animals in security uniforms. Very soon they will be visited by law of karma. It pains me most that an idiotic security person will always forget that his guns are purchased with tax payers money for protection of lives and properties, but they destroy lives and properties, aid and abate crimes. Let me remind them again in Fela's voice ' uniform na cloth na tailor dey so am'. Without guns you nothing. Cowards!!!!

  4. The war Jonathan avoided by quickly coceading defeat is what buhari has brought forward.Nigeria is heavily divided now due to buhari's 'my people, my people' and 'my vote my vote' mentality. He fail to show he is a father for all in Nigeria. His discrination against the south east and south south is so obvious and so annoying. Yet some people are clapping for a president showing partiality instead of being a father for all. The damage is done.

  5. Fayose you are correct oh. God bless you. But why are doing the job of the most cowardly igbo leaders ever produced in history? The current igbo leaders are silent because they are sycophants begging for crumbs at the floor of the Aso rock table. Cheap prostitutes that have no morals or values. Leave the igbos to deal with thier useless so called leaders that are sheep leading lions. They are cheap political prostitutes for the highest bidder. Fayose stop doing thier job for them you are too kind

  6. As far as Igbos are concerned promotes and support evil. This is very clear. No problem is it not in your own land? Soon you'll voluntarily start catching and killing NIMASA avengers for your own safety. That was why all evils committed internationally are committed by Igbos. You should not worry your days are numbered

  7. I appreciate you Dr Fayose. Your bravery, outspokenness and honesty in the face of mindless opposition endears you to many. May I make bold to say that until recently I used to hold you in derision, but your consistency in speaking the truth even in the face of mindless attacks stand you out among equals. May the good Lord continue to protect you. May His blessings encompass you with good health and long life. God in heaven is watching, for those who kill by the sword shall perish by the sword. Blood belongs to none other than Him and every person shall account for his deed, including those who shed it. There is no escaping it!!!

  8. What makes Fayose a correct man?. Criminals decided to challenge and engage the Nigeria military in a show of strength and got what they wanted. What's your definition of a peaceful protest?. The one that attacked and killed policemen on ground to make sure the procession was peaceful?. I only pity those allowing greedy politicians to use them. Once you fall to the bullet, you're dead and forgotten.

  13. Fayose, you still go on running your mouth ove what's outside your domain. South East and South South area of the country have governors and if anything untoward happened in their domains, they're in the knowing position to voice their grievances. Man,you have enough problem to solve in Ekiti State.
