'You are a clear political 419' - Again, Fayose slams Buhari's govt for increasing petrol pump price by N58.50

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) were playing Nigerians Advanced Fee Fraud over the removal of fuel subsidy and increment of pump price from N86.50 to N145 per litre, describing the increment as wickedness taken too far and asking; “was the federal government paying up to N58.50 as subsidy on one litre of petrol before now?”

Governor Fayose, who reiterated his call on Nigerians, especially the labour movement to resist what he called “this wicked act of President Buhari and his party,” added that “those who opposed removal of fuel subsidy in 2012 and funded the Occupy Nigeria protest must not be allowed to get away with this imposition of hardship on Nigerians now that they are in power.”

He said labour unions, civil society organisations and other well-meaning Nigerians should stand up and be counted at this crucial time in the life of the common people of Nigeria, adding that “there is no justification for the increment at this period when government is not paying salaries regularly, Nigerians are losing their jobs daily, prices of foodstuffs have gone over the roof and life has become so difficult for the common people.

To labour Nigerians with this increment is wickedness taken too far!” In a statement on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said: “In 2012 when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan removed fuel subsidy and increased petrol price to N141 per litre, crude oil was selling at $111 per barrel. How then can petrol price be increased to N145 per litre when crude oil is now selling at $40 per barrel?

“It is on record that on May 2 this year, the federal government, in the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Template released in Abuja, told Nigerians that it was subsidising petrol at N12.62 per litre.

“If as at May 2, petrol was being subsidised at N12.62 per litre, and now that the subsidy of N12.62 has been removed, what ought to have been added to the N86.50 pump price should be N12.62, which would have increased pump price to N99.12 per litre.

“Increasing petrol pump price by N58.50 when the federal government claimed it was subsidising the product at N12.62 per litre is clear political 419, which is aimed at further impoverishing Nigerians as the government will be making profit of N45.88 on each litre of petrol bought by Nigerians.

“How can any government with human feelings attempt to make profit of N45.88 per litre on Nigerians, who are no longer getting their salaries regularly? How can Buhari and his party impose another N45.88 per litre levy on Nigerians who are already facing severe hardship? This is wickedness!”

Speaking further, Governor Fayose said there was no justification for the removal of subsidy and increment of petrol pump price to N145 per litre now that crude oil price is $40 per barrel when the same product was increased to N141 per litre in 2012 when crude oil was $111 per barrel. While describing President Buhari as a hypocrite, the governor said, “Nigerians should be reminded that the president once said that petrol subsidy never existed and that it was a fraud.

How then can the same President Buhari tell us that he has removed the same subsidy he claimed never existed?

“The reality is that these people lied to Nigerians too much. They made promises they knew they won’t fulfil just to get to power. Now they are showing Nigerians their true colours.

They are showing Nigerians that they have come to punish them with hardship. “Buhari and his APC promised to reduce petrol pump price to from N87 to N45 per litre; petrol is now N145.

They promised to create three million jobs per year; they have instead created millions of unemployment.

They said $1 will be equal to N1; $1 is now N320. They promised to create better live for Nigerians, they have instead created hardship by making prices of basic commodities to skyrocket through their lack of policy direction.”

    1. Let's face it, "WE ALL FAILED OURSELVES".

What Nigerians failed to realize is that any policy that is for the Common Good must be guarded by "EVERYBODY" and "NOT JUST THE GOVERNMENT AND IT'S AGENCIES ALONE".

It's been several weeks now and with all the Scarce Dollars (thank God the looting spree era of GEJ/PDP/Etc has ceased) being injected into PMS (By the way why PMS only, we must really be smoking something here in Nigeria) all to no avail.

Instead, you have the hoodlum Marketers feasting on Nigerians. NNPC brings in PMS at lower prices, Marketers collect and sells at exorbitant prices and instead of Nigerians to Organize themselves into enforcement Groups and defend the Government Policy and Help it to work for the common good, they fold their hands and just talk grammar and never put in any effort. It's common knowledge that daylight robbery is being perpetuated by Marketers and Hardship being inflicted on Nigerians yet the TLC, NLC, etc never saw it fit to start their own monitoring and help curb the illicit and irresponsible behaviours.

Even, the depots were not left out of the illicit dealings. Hoodlums were busy smiling to the Banks (Even under this Mantra of Change).

With all these, what is the most logical thing to then do? Please let us be serious and proffer realistic ways forward rather than engaging in ranting lunacies.

The Unions and Legislatures should start looking at proffering palliatives to cushion the effect of the deregulation rather than wasting unnecessary time.

Nigerians actually firmly set sail the Ship of Deregulation and the Government has no other choice than to Board That Ship.

The Deregulation Ship has left the Port. Please let's start talking of other useful things.

Where are we from, we are from an era of plundering and bleeding of our dear Nation's commonwealth dry by highly irresponsible GEJ, PDP and cohorts.

What do we need right now, the message of creativity, perseverance, understanding, cooperation, patience, sense of belonging and responsibility.

This Change shall work when we all work together.

May God complete the deliverance of Nigeria from utter backwardness in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

May the Lord continue to frustrate and reduce to oblivion all the known and secret enemies of Nigeria in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.

May the Lord erase all the known and secret enemies of Nigeria like human fart in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.
name of Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.

    1. This comment sld not be abt Fayose but abt what he said which is true. Jonathaan wanted to remove subsidy when crude oil was $100/barrel we said no that N140 was too high for pump price now crude is abt $40/barrel and we allowing APC to take us for a ride to put pump price at N140. Th was d same Govt dt said there was nothing like subsidy that its a scam only for them to start it. Last month they said they were subsidising with N6 to sell at 86 so if they are removing it why sld petrol go to N145. Guys sentiment apart this Govt is not sincere and the earlier we let them know the better. Fayose might be stupid but he was better than the mad tyrant in Osun state. So guy leave sentiment face issues the pump price of N145 is absolute wickedness.

  7. Is now I really understand what some elders said about this govt these leaders were feuduist who never had any good in mind for the commoner dere is God oooo

  8. I am positive that organised disenchantment will resist this outrageous increase in pump price. More often than not, our leaders test us by pronouncing elephant increase and if we protest, they will bring it down to the level they intended ab-initio. I suspect that the pump price per litre will settle between #100 & #120/litre. Whatever be the case God will deliver us in this country. God punish a community that is unjust, corrupt like Nigeria with bad leaders. We are all in it together.

  10. Fayose is a prophet. This APC led government has nothing to offer Nigerians other than hunger and hardship. This fuel price increase is their one year anniversary gift to Nigerians. It is wickedness and insensitivity of the greatest order. Those doing the great treks from Lagos to Abuja and those donating their life savings should welcome it with joy. Their children are all over Europe and America living like Kings and Queens and flying first class all the time. Nigerians sorry ooo! But this is clear political 419 as Baba Fayose said. This APC government is not just incompetent they are wicked and insensitive to the suffering of Nigerian masses. They are embarrassment and disgrace to themselves and Nigerians. APC agenda is soly to inflict maximum pain and suffering on Nigerians. O to!
