Red Cross Raises Alarm Over Unwanted Pregnancies in IDP Camps Among Teenagers

The President of the National Red Cross Society, (NRCS), Elder Akpan Anani, has said that a major challenge faced in many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps are cases of unwanted pregnancies.


“The organisation discovered rampart cases of teenage and single ladies getting pregnant in the camps”, he told Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday.

Anani said the Red Cross had been working to curb the situation by counselling the ladies against such acts because “the psychological effects and social factor affects them negatively.”
