Manager of recently crowned Premier League champions Leicester City, Claudio Ranieri, knew Roman Abramovich wanted him out of Chelsea as soon as the Russian bought the club.
Ranieri was on borrowed time from the day Abramovich bought the club in July 2003.
The Foxes supremo, 63, said: “I know football very well and a new owner will want to change his man. It's normal.
“I wasn't Roman's manager. I knew from the beginning that in the end it would be, 'Claudio, you go home.'
“When Trevor Birch, the sporting director, told me there was a new owner with good money, I said: 'Me and you are first to go.' He went first and then I went second."
