Ohanaeze youths drum support for Buhari

The youth wing of the pan Igbo socio- political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s change agenda in transforming Nigeria and urged Ndigbo to ensure he succeeds in taking the country to greater heights.

Briefing journalists in Aba, pioneer Secretary General of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mr. Chuks Ibegbu, noted that Buhari has demonstrated his determination to sanitize Nigeria and restore her lost glory, stressing that the president’s integrity stands him out as a reformer who means well for Nigeria.

According to Ibegbu, “President Buhari’s determination that the 2016 budget was not distorted as obtained in the past and his commitment to see that public officers live up to expectation, stands him out.

His anti corruption stance has ensured that public officers are now afraid to dip their hands into the treasury. Buhari has improved Nigeria’s standing among the comity of nations.

We urged Ndigbo to join hands with President Buhari to transform Nigeria and address the myriad of problems facing our people. With the present political situation in Nigeria, Ndigbo are nearer getting the Presidency in the APC than the PDP.

All we need to do is to support Buhari’s administration to succeed.”

While emphasizing that Ndigbo immensely contributed to Buhari’s victory at the 2015 presidential polls as they gave less votes to ex President Goodluck Jonathan than he got in 2011, the Ohanaeze leader urged Buhari to give Ndigbo their due share of federal projects and appointments as well as make policies that would favour trade and commerce which are the major business of Ndigbo.

He accused the PDP of toying with Ndigbo while it held power, adding that the former ruling party was now belatedly doing what it should have done in 2015 by zoning its presidential ticket to the North in the spirit of fairplay.

  4. There is hunger in the land and igbo groups are the cheapest to buy. They killed 40 of your people a few days ago so an opportunity to get some crumbs has appeared. I mean when you read that statement it is meaningless and not worthy of announcing apart from the timing.
