Nigeria is Broke, Economy is Shrinking - FG

The Federal Government has raised the alarm that Nigeria is broke and her economy shrinking.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said this on Wednesday while fielding questions on the new fuel pricing regime shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The minister said the hike in the price of petroleum from N86.50 to N145 "is not about subsidy removal. It is about the fact that Nigeria is broke. Simple!...The economy is shrinking."

He also restated the government's complaint that there was no foreign exchange to import fuel.

  1. And this why only the down trodden will have to suffer and sacrifice all the time! Why can't the Political class and Leaders also do likewise.. You can not cut down on your too many frequent trips abroad with nothing to show for it! This is one way to save. Stop the buck passing and get on the drivers seat and do the Job you claim you are voted for!

  6. Thank God Nigeria was not broke when you took over. That the country is broke now shows poor administrative skill. We don't need a prophet to tell us that by the end of 4 years, the country would collapse economically if we continue like this. This is the time to stop the globe-trotting and bring down politicians salaries, allowances and estacode.
