More Chibok Girls to be rescued soon – Borno governor

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, has said that more schoolgirls from the town of Chibok will be rescued soon, reports Bloomberg. This came as one of the girls, Amina Ali-Nkeki, who was among the school girls kidnapped in a mass abduction by the Islamist terrorists, Boko Haram, was rescued Tuesday night, in Sambisa forest, Borno state.

“We believe that in the next coming week we shall recover the rest of the girls,” Shettima told reporters in Abuja on Thursday. “The military are expending a lot of resources and time in Sambisa Forest.

I believe that in the days and weeks more recoveries will be made.” Amina Ali, who was found with her newborn baby, was identified by her family after being found by local vigilantes at the outskirts of Borno state’s Sambisa Forest.

That was the first reported rescue of a Chibok girl since the mass abduction of more than 200 students in April 2014 that brought global attention and international outrage to the Boko Haram militant group’s brutal tactics, provoking the #BringBackOurGirls social-media campaign.
