Kelechi Iheanacho gives Manchester City Champions League qualification

Kelechi Iheanacho gave Manuel Pellegrini's side an early lead at the Liberty Stadium, but a deflected free-kick on the stroke of half-time saw the spoils shared in Wales

Manchester City have all but confirmed their place in the Champions League next season after playing out a 1-1 draw at Swansea City in Manuel Pellegrini's final game in charge of the club.

Kelechi Iheanacho gave the visitors an early lead at the Liberty Stadium, tapping home from close range while Swansea appealed for offside, before Andre Ayew's deflected free-kick flew into the top corner just before half-time.

Despite City being three points clear of fifth place, they will have to wait for official confirmation of their place in Europe's premier club competition after Manchester United's match against Bournemouth was abandoned.

A suspect package was found at Old Trafford, meaning the the Red Devils have still only played 37 games, but they would need to win and make up 18 goals in goal difference to pip City to a top-four berth.
