Incoming Chelsea Coach Conte Acquitted In Match-fixing Trial

Incoming Chelsea manager and current Italy coach Antonio Conte has been acquitted in a match-fixing trial.

Conte was one of several defendants in a match-fixing trial taking place in Cremona, relating to when he was in charge of Siena, who were then competing in Serie B.

The 46-year-old was accused of failing to report his knowledge of fixing by players in a 1-0 defeat to Albinoleffe in May 2011.

Italian prosecutor Roberto Di Martino had sought a six-month suspended prison sentence and an €8,000 (£6,400) fine for the former Juventus boss but he was acquitted on Monday.

Conte will replace Guus Hiddink as Chelsea boss after the end of Italy's Euro 2016 campaign.
