John Oyegun, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says politics is not all about money, because if it were to be about financial strength President Muhammadu Buhari would have lost the 2015 presidential election.
Speaking when Tina Agbarha, a female governorship aspirant in Edo state, paid him visit at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, Oyegun said there would be a level playing ground in the primary election.
He told the aspirant to place less emphasis on role of money in politics, saying “you should take interest in politics and campaigns seriously because not everything is about money in politics”.
“I urge you to increase your level of participation in electioneering processes because it is not all about money. If it were all about money President Muhammadu Buhari would not win,” he said.
“The people trusted him, and so I encourage you to take what you are doing very, very seriously.”
The chairman asked all aspirants to collapse their structures and unite behind whoever emerges the flag bearer in the election.
Earlier, Agbarha thanked the chairman for the free nomination and expression of interest forms for women and urged him to create more opportunities for women in the party.
Fielding question from reporters, the aspirant said one of the things she would do if elected was to address the high maternal mortality rate in the country.
Agbarha said she would make healthcare free and accessible.
“During my tenure, we will work to reduce maternal mortality because life is important; life first, every woman’s life counts,” she said.
She said, among other things, that she would also launch women into small and medium scale businesses so that they help their homes.

Did APC not spent dollars? A beg let me hear word! Nigeria is now more divided under buhari watch. His visible style of revenge mission, fighting for my people syndrome , hatred for IBO and Niger Delta people can break this country.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11:10, I don't think your assertions about PMB are correct, Yes APC used Dollars and Naira just like the PDP did accepted, but I assure you, could not have match your free flowing PDP River of various currencies depending on which country buys our crude or gas at a time, the cash were allocated to any state that needs them at the time... Buhari has not shown hatred on the Igbo nation everyone knows that, it was the igbos that does not know how to position themselves to lead in Nigerian.... if I may ask, what position where they given in the new PDP executive order; national youth leader, assistant publicity Secretary (funny isn't it?) it is even on record that they have even gone ahead to zone the party 2019 presidential position to the North-east, Igbo sons and daughters are championing a north-east presidency for 2019 and yet are crying of marginalization from another northerner how justifiable do you guys think are your complaint, it must be a northerner chosen by you before he or she is accepted..... the igbos should stop crying and let the Nigerian Nation know that they are good enough to lead...... For the Niger delta you are wrong again! Nobody, coming to run NIJA effectively would take the people of the Niger Delta for granted not even Buhari, he knows it... so man look for legit reasons!!
