The Flying Eagles, in preparation for their U20 AFCON qualifier in Burundi, defeated Nigeria’s Olympic team 2-1 in a friendly played in Abuja Thursday.
The Dream Team, parading the likes of goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, Stanley Dimgba, Sincere Seth and Etor Daniel, took the lead early in the first half when a fierce free kick by Etor was turned into the net by a Flying Eagles defender.
However, the Nigeria U20s drew level just before the interval, when dangerman Victor Osimhen cashed in on a defensive slip and set up Funsho Bamigboye to tap home easily.
For the second half, coach Emmanuel Amuneke introduced eight new players including skipper Kelechi Nwakali, John Lazarus, Anthony Michael and Samuel Chukwueze.
The Flying Eagles were fitter and the more cohesive side and duly went ahead through Osimhen, who powered home a superb header off a Lazarus pullout from the right wing.
Osimhen was truly the tormentor-in-chief as he got another header off against the post and then set up Orji, who failed to make hay in front of an empty goal.
The Flying Eagles victory though would come at a huge cost after Osimhen was forced out following a shoulder injury.
