Fidelity Bank MD,Nnamdi Okonkwo says ICT is key to Youth Development



Fidelity Bank MD, Nnamdi Okonkwo, says investment in information technology is a secret to youth development. Okonkwo metioned durning the donation of free internet access to school in Abuja by Fidelity Bank.He said the gesture is geared towards building the capacity of students, particularly on the use of modern ICT tools.It will also help discover more tech gurus just like we have in most developed countries.

Nnamdi noted that the renovation of the ICT centre is in fulfillment of the objectives of the Fidelity Bank's CSR practice which rests on a tripod: “The Environment, Education and Health/Social Welfare”.

He noted that Fidelity Bank strives to ensure healthy community relations by identifying with host communities in activities that are most relevant to them.

Nnamdi Okonkwo ,was appointed as GMD of Fidelity Bank in 2014,Before then,he was the Executive Director of South Directorate at Fidelity Bank Nigeria. He also was the Executive Director of Commercial and Consumer Banking South Directorate.


Before joining the bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo was the Chief operating officer position in the United Bank for Africa subsidiary in Ghana. He has a wealth of experience which spans over 25 years in the banking industry covering various sections including corporate finance, Corporate banking, commercial and consumer banking.

Nnamdi Okonkwo holds a B.Sc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Benin and also MBA, Banking and Finance from Enugu State University of Science and Technology Nigeria. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of INSEAD, the business school of the world France.He has also attended various other senior-level programs at other renowned institutions.

Nnamdi is the CEO/ Managing Director Fidelity Bank Nigeria, a position he has held since January 2, 2014.Before then he was an Executive Director of the South directorate Fidelity Bank from the year 2012 to 2014. Between year 2009 and 2012 he remained as the Divisional head corporate bank Fidelity Bank Plc.

Before moving to Fidelity Bank Plc, Nnamdi was CEO, West African Monetary Zone, United Bank for Africa Plc between the periods of 2008 till 2009. He was also a Managing Director United Bank for Africa Plc for the period of 2006 till 2008. Nnamdi J. Okonkwo has also worked with Standard Trust South Africa and Guaranty Trust Bank in his over 25 years illustrious banking career.
