Fani-Kayode raises alarm as EFCC invades residence again

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday night, condemned the invasion of his Abuja residence by gun-wielding operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, noting that this was the fourth time in a week that the anti-graft agency was invading his home.

Condemning the invasion in a statement, Jude Ndukwe , SA Media to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said: “Earlier today (Thursday), the EFCC invaded the residence of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode even when he was still in their custody. What miffed us most was their mode of operation which was forceful, provocative and dangerous as they wielded their guns with needless threats.

“The worst is that the invasion was without a warrant as they forced their way in, and after terrifying all the staff at home including the infant, they whisked the laundry man away even though he was later released. “This is the fourth time the EFCC operatives would be invading Chief Fani-Kayode’s residence just under a week.

We condemn this act of executive lawlessness, harassment and intimidation. “Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has served this country even at the highest levels and he deserves some courtesy. We call on the EFCC to endeavour to carry out their functions within the ambit of our laws and stop brazenly betraying the fact that Chief Fani-Kayode is under persecution.

The world is watching!” Recall that after many weeks of verbal exchange, Chief Fani-Kayode visited the EFCC office in Abuja, on Monday. The spokesman of former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Organisation, was being questioned on N840 million he reportedly received a few days to the presidential election. Also recall that on Tuesday, the EFCC secured a remand warrant to further detain Fani-Kayode, who was detained on Monday.

The remand warrant which was secured, the EFCC said would enable it to keep the former minister beyond the stipulated time allowed by law, thus, enabling its operatives to conduct proper investigation into how he got the money, what it was used for and who the beneficiaries are.

  2. There is an urgent need to reorientate EFCC Operatives as their officers are overzealous as demonstrated by the invasion of some banks in recent times. It is unfortunate that these bank CEOs were not formally invited before the siege on their institutions. FFK should focus on the allegations of looting and money laundering. He should refund the ill gotten fund. He should stop entertaining us on arrest and release of his domestic staff

  3. Have you asked why Buhari appointed his kinsmen into the EFCC, DSS and Customs? intimidations and harassment are his intentions. Everybody knew that the PDP raised billions during the 2015 elections. How they used their money is not the business of anybody outside the PDP. APC also raised billions and most especially from the Nigerian masses. they have not told Nigerians who contributed how the used their yet they are using the DSS and the EFCC to harass and intimidate PDP leadership. This is definitely a dangerous trend. everyone always knows where an issue starts but nobody can tell the extent it will go. Nigeria as a country will not end with Buhari as President. Imagine what will happen to Buhari, his men, this DSS and EFCC directors when APC leaves power.
