President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, rubbished those agitating for the secession of Biafra , insisting that his administration would ensure continuous existence of Nigeria as a united entity.
Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Katsina during his official visit to the state, Buhari recalled that over two million Nigerians were killed during the 30 month of the Nigerian civil war which was fought to ensure unity of the nation.
He said the nation was plunged in a civil war leading to colossal lost of lives and properties in the bid to ensure its unity “but recently, some people who were not even born then are saying they want to divide Nigeria”
“I always say the civil war was fought for the unity of Nigeria because then we don’t even discover oil let alone enjoying it. But two million people were killed”
He assured that his administration will do all it could to ensure the continuous existence of Nigeria as a peaceful and one united entity.
The President who admitted that he knows the difficulties Nigerians are passing through said government was doing everything possible to change the fortunes of the nation for the better.
He urged Nigerians who have land to embrace farming “while those who don’t have should learn a trade.”
Earlier in his address, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir accused the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan for abandoning the contract for dredging of River Niger noting “in land water way is the wealth of the nation and these people don’t want it here”.
Emir Kabir who urged residents especially the hausa-fulani to intensify prayers for PMB said there are enemies within and outside.

Additionally, the bitter truth is that Nigerians are not ready to live together anymore this is evidenced in the trends of events across the country within these few period; the emergence of bokoharam agitating for Islamic nation, agitation for secession by IPOB, incessant destruction of oil facilities by Niger delta militants and so on.

There is only one way and you have the power to do so - allow regional autonomy, Practice true federalism. You said you trust your tribesmen and so you appointed most of them to offices. Thats fine, and those from other tribes don't feel like a part of the country, so like every action there is a reaction and that is what you are getting from other regions. Thinking Suppression? It has never worked! Energy and resources will only be expanded and of course murder and further provocation of the people you are supposed to lead will occur and some will call it victory. No, you just lost again like Nigeria has always lost from independence. Europe and their friends wold have sold arms and furthermore come to "repair" the damage done to your country. Wake up Mr. President, Nigeria is a make-up that can be made well. All the tribes of Nigeria existed happily and there was mutual respect before amalgamation and we can find our way back to that structure with a modern touch. I believe in making lemonade out of lemons. Let people decide the terms of ther membership of the Nigerian union - adopt th national conference report. It's important. Even brothers don't remain in the same house. At a certain age the move to their separate homes and still remain brothers, so it is not strange when people say they want to secede. Patriotism is borne of fairness from the country you call yours so Nigerians cannot be patriotic to something they proclaim as one -only in public, but behind closed doors in their tribal comfort tell their children the truth - i don't trust Nigeria.
