Ibafo residents panic as soldiers, pipeline vandals clash

There is massive panic in the Ibafo area of Ogun State on Monday after some suspected militants, suspected to be pipeline vandals, clashed with some security operatives in the area from Sunday evening rolling over to Monday, NigerianEye exclusively gathers.

According to eyewitness reports, a group of military men who were part of the anti-pipeline vandalism team visited the vandals where major pipeline vandalism was taking place at the Ibafo area, and black market fuel was being sold to residents.

NigerianEye gathered that the vandals thus attempted to send the military personnel out of the area by attacking them with guns but the military had resisted and fought back which led to a major crossfire for several hours, with residents scampering for safety.

All commercial activities in the area are currently at a standstill.

Many residents are currently stranded, while scores are feared injured as the area is still raving with sporadic gunshots.

More later.

  2. I live in one of Estates off Ebute Road,Ibafo, very close to the bank of the river. The major Challenge on ground is mismanagement of information. This led to situation where residents started relocating en-mass.Although roads are deserted but the area is cool and calm as I write. I will encourage people to stop peddling rumour that can cause instability and put others under unnecessary pressure. Promise to keep updating as event unfolding.
