The London branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also issued a statement condemning British Prime Minister David Cameron's recent comments terming Nigeria a "fantastically corrupt" nation.
Signed by the APC London Press Secretary, Adenike Lucas, the statement said President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to rooting out corruption in the nation.
“The rash statement by the Prime Minister and leader of the conservatives, David Cameron, earlier today fails to credit President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort in fighting corruption," it said.
“President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who should arrive in the UK shortly for the anti-corruption summit hosted by David Cameron has received commendation from the Prime Minister in the past and other world leaders over his stance against corruption.
“During the 2015 Election campaign, PMB as he is fondly known pledged to fight corruption and he has not reneged on his promise.
“It should be noted that within a year of being sworn-in, President Buhari has achieved a lot in his fight against corruption in Nigeria.
“President Buhari is known for his zero tolerance against corruption. He has made major efforts to change the image of the nation within and outside the country; and this government’s policies are working. In the recent list of the top 10 most corrupt countries released, Nigeria was not on the list.
“Even while the Prime Minister made the comment about Nigeria being one of the “fantastically corrupt Countries”, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby quickly corrected him and acknowledged in the presence of the Queen of England that President Buhari “is actually not corrupt and he is doing a great job in Nigeria”.
“Nigeria and indeed the world are aware the new sheriff in town is working to tackle corruption unlike the previous government which allowed corruption to thrive.
“The APC-led government has empowered the anti-corruption agency (EFCC) resulting in several high profile investigations and prosecution of individuals involved in corruption and misappropriation of funds. This is an ongoing process that includes blocking leakages, sensitising the system, re-training of stakeholders amongst other measures put in place to curb corruption.
It is crystal clear to all that President Buhari is determined to root out corruption from the system.
“APC UK and Nigerians in the Diaspora have confidence in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and believes that the current administration is moving Nigeria forward, away from the rot and decay suffered under the previous administration," it added.

ReplyDeleteA 48 year old Mr Cameron is politely insulting an 85 year old Mr Buhari.
For Real, Mr Cameron is sure of what he said and he is directly insinuating to Mr Buhari.
This is a sarcastic way of telling Buhari to sit his ass down in his country and take care of his people,
instead of looking for every opportunity to fly out of Nigeria and be wasting his countries scarce forex resources.
Mr Cameron flies Virgin Air or British airways
whereas Mr Buhari rolls with a crew of 40 to 50 persons with a presidential jet, all crew receives special allowance or estacodes in USD. Imagine over 85 persons following Buhari to China!!!!
This is outright wastage of resources or call it ‘fantastically corrupt’ in the real sense of the word.
The British are well inaundated with reports that Mr Buharis ministers were very corrupt governors back then,
one made a website with N85million , dug a simple borehole in the government house with N33million among
several billion dollars of questionable capital projects and another bled the coffers of Rivers State dry with impunity, while the Buhari supposed anti corruption crusade focused on the opposition figures instead of a wholistics approach. etc etc.
The British newspaper The Mail already dwelled on this topic a while ago, they wondered why Buhari is paying closed a 100,000GBP annually for his daughters education in the UK, whereas there is are over 70 universities in Nigeria. blah blah blah
The last time Mr Buhari visited the United states for the nuclear summit , Obama politely refused to see him, instead
John Kerry was told to attend to him. Is like telling Mr Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau our current Minister
Internal affairs to receive and attend to Mr Obama if he comes to Nigeria.
Okay, the foreign gvernments dont even want to return the stolen loot in their countries because if they do
Mr Buhari will use it for his travelling expenses and for investigating corruption case.
This is what the The Uk The Mail newspapers stated korokoro.
Baba please sit at home and fix Nigeria. As they say,... The answer to the question is in the question.

It is most obvious that the Igbo's will find any lame excuse to turn and twist events to tarnish and accuse President Buhari (Only God knows his offense against the Igbos). Your analysis are not well researched and were taken from social media reports, moreover the comments about Nigeria by Mr Cameron did not insinuate that Buhari is the cause of the corruption but rather Buhari should be commended and supported for taking the bull by the horn and confronting corruption head-on. Instead, you have gone to a great length to make all manner of accusation against the present government who are the only govt genuinely fighting corruption. You have also exhibited your bias by not even mentioning the previous govt of Goodluck Jonathan whose govt was a cesspool of corruption and even made the uncanny comment of saying that "stealing is not corruption" but instead you accuse and lay all the blame on the one fighting corruption. Yours is neither the first nor the last we've heard from your Igbo brethren regarding misplaced anger against PMB (If it is not Biafra today it is marginalization tomorrow just immediately Igbos lost out in the last election). However let me assure you and your co-travellers that the truth will always stand clear from falsehood and mischief and at the end it will prevail.
DeleteAnonymous 5.59pm, f you have a contrary opinion to what Dr. Anumudu has written, state it rather than generalizing and castigating the ibos. Is she stating facts or not? What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
DeleteThe is a normal lighted gossip with the jobless Queen weekly with glasses exotic sherry wine Many people dont know that this white monkeys are still ruling us albeit indirectly...they jailed James Ibori, even when the courts in Nigeria acquitted him..infact they wanted to extradite Diepreye Alaimeisigha to be tried in London before the guy committed suicide..oh yes suicide , as he did not want to be disgraced
ReplyDeleteTo the British, Buhari is just like one of em nigerians,
ReplyDeletehis daughters are schooling in England at a cost of over GBP120,000 per annum.,
whereas there are over 70 universities in Nigeria..y shud he not rule by example
Back then in 2010, a young fresh faced mohawk spotting british immigration officer at the Uk entry Border in Heathrow asked me why i chose to visit UK to purchase building accessories, when i can get such in Dubai or china...he then asked me how much i had with me? he then asked me about my family , how many children, their ages, why did they not come with me, y did i chose to come in month of february,,,then i remember the movie 'pirates of the carribean' ,, a thief is afraid of everyone. The british plundered or robbed the whole world to build their empire. They could smell a bad from miles away, of course they know Mr Buhari is a bad guy. Mr Cameron wants the whole world to know how they feel about Buhari aka mr Nigeria hence the recording was released. It was never an error.
ReplyDeleteAPC, when Buhari said that Nigerians were criminals, what was your reaction?
ReplyDeletePerson like Ogechi is also required to free herself from sentiment filled corrupt mind.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 4.40pm what makes Ogechi a sentiment filled corrupt mind and you the unsentimental and uncorrupt mind one who is objective? State facts rather than castigate others.
