Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke is confident that star striker Victor Osimhen will feature in next weekend’s U20 AFCON qualifier in Burundi after the star striker injured his shoulder in a test game against Nigeria Olympic team.
Osimhen clashed with defender Segun Oduduwa and in the process pulled out his shoulder raising fears he could miss the qualifier in Bujumbura on May 21.
However, Amuneke has now said scans have shown the injury is not as serious as first feared.
“He is a strong boy and we are optimistic he will be fit for the match in Burundi,” said the Flying Eagles coach.
Osimhen trained apart from the main squad on Friday.
African champions Nigeria face Burundi next Saturday before they host them in Calabar in the second leg.
The overall winners will battle the winners of the second round match-up between Sudan and Malawi for a place in next year’s U20 AFCON in Zambia.
