Yet again, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Coromo and two other villages in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing about 12 persons and wounding about 18 others seriously.
Local sources said those killed included seven men, two women and children, while 13 houses were burnt.
nformation about the attack was sketchy, last night, but it was said that the herdsmen launched the attack following a long standing land dispute over farm lands.
The herdsmen reportedly stormed the town in the night and started attacking Tivs who had come back to farm on their lands. It was said that hundreds of the natives fled to neighbouring villages while others ran to the Gassol B Police Divisional headquarters for their safety.
Efforts to speak with Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joseph Kwaji, were fruitless as he did not pick calls to his mobile telephone, but sources at the police headquarters confirmed the incident, saying that armed policemen had been dispatched to the affected communities to maintain peace.
The Taraba incident came on the heels of the massacre by suspected herdsmen in an Enugu suburb which triggered outrage. Before then, there had been reported attacks by suspected herdsmen across the country. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Suspected hardsmen, the in4mtion about the attack was skatchy. DSP not picking his call. Source from police confirm the attack. How can you connect this in4mation? The Questuon is Who is the source other than DSP? How many hardsmen were kill? I can't imagine the villager to fold their hand and allow hardsmen to kill them. Pls let us not b bias in everything we are doing
ReplyDeleteNayaya Pls how many farmers do you know that carry AK47? If you don't know any, how then do you expect them to have fought back? Do you chase a man carrying gun with matchets? That will be a suicide mission. So better believe 'they folded their arms' especially with night attack.
DeleteI refuse to agree that these killers are the mere Fulani herdsmen we see everyday. Yes they are deadly but these attacks? No. I think they are actually Boko Haram rebranded and being shipped to the middle belt, South East, South West and possibly the South South. I am sure their sponsors are currently in power. I see serious trouble in the next few months. God help our country.

ReplyDeleteUseless ppl,u haven't seen anything yet.You better arm your and protect yourselves. The police will not protect u,they will only come about a week after the incident.if u even call them on the phone, they might tell u their is no fuel inside the patrol van. This is not a tribal issue as it is obvious they pepetrate violent everywhere they go.They are some bunch of entitled individuals who believe in their magical power or so they say.THey need to be made to realise they bleed just like everyone else. They need to be able to know the consequence of their actions should they attack again. So far there has been a lack of action to negate them having the effontry to continue to attack innocent farmers.Send them in body bags and be consistent with it and see how this attacks reduces, when they see that everyone is now prepared for them
