In commemoration of the 2016 Olympic Day celebration, Nigeria will join the rest of the Olympic community to celebrate the special event on May 25, 2016.
The event is expected to be celebrated in the 36 states of the federation; including the Federal Capital territory, Abuja. Chairman of Sports for All Nigeria, Prince Henry Amike who disclosed this in Lagos yesterday said this year’s event promises to be bigger, better and more glamorous, if words coming from their esteem partners are anything to count on.
Directors of sports from the 36 states of the federation including Abuja, have since embraced the programme during the two-day workshop held in Lagos. Prince Amike called on states that are yet to register for the Olympic day celebration to identify with the programme so as to be captured in the 2016 activities.
He also pleaded with corporate bodies to support the programme through sponsorship while explaining that Aerobic, cultural display, keep fit and jogging exercises will be prominent in this year’s programme. Secretary of sports for All Nigeria Commission, Augustine Odigie while corroborating the chairman’s speech said some states have since registered for the event and submitted their programme to the central working committee ahead of the May 25th event proper.
In Lagos, the event will start with a two-day educational programme for school children which will involve Arts, Quiz and Debates and would hold on Thursday May 23 and Friday May 24 before the grand finale on Saturday May 25, 2016.
