The World Bank has asked for time to provide a detailed response to a request by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) for information on the spending of recovered assets from Late General Sani Abacha.
The World Bank Access to Information Committee made this plea in a letter addressed to Olukayode Majekodunmi SERAP deputy director received yesterday.
The committee said it would respond to the appeal within the next 45 working days.
“The Access to Information Committee makes its best efforts to reach a decision on appeals within 45 working days of receiving an appeal. In this case, the Access to Information Committee needs additional time to reach a decision.’’ The letter read in part.
SERAP had earlier requested for information on how recovered loot from former military head of state, General Sanni Abacha.
