Watch Video: Tension at CCT as Justice Umar threatens to jail Saraki’s lawyer

There was mild drama at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Thursday, as the CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, refused to hear the motion filed by counsel of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on his (Umar) alleged bias.

After Oluyede (Saraki's lawyer) demanded to be heard, Umar, upset by the revelations, called for police officers to throw out the counsel to the Senate President, threatening him with contempt of court.

  2. I am happy Danladi has refused to be intimidated by Saraki's antics. I'm sure there would be drama underground too (i.e threats) to Danladi, but again it's corruption trying to fight back. Our lawyers are just very pathetic and I can imagine someone saying am doing my duty (defend a criminal). We need a major surgery in Nigeria. For me, I would still recommend a Military man with a sincere heart to come do this clean up. Democracy will NEVER take us to the promise land because all these crooks will continue to hide under human right nonsense.

    2. Thank you for your comments. Triply speaking I prefer millitery than this yeye politicians. It was that short man devil IBB and Abacha that damage and destroyed millitery image. Buhari and Idiagbon regime still the best. Hopefully we would get to the stage that would make military to come back. When they come they will do everything to restore our image back. I hate IBB for overthrow Buhari and Idiagbon government. He should be probed and returned $12 billion dollars he stoles.

    4. Indeed they are the way forward, and how? Please don't answer! By extorting innocent drivers on check points and illegal road blocks. Open your eyes, once upon a time the Nigeria Armed Forces was incorruptible. Even those in the high command can not speak in favor of the discipline of their men.

  3. Orubebe style. The rogue lawyer should be suspended for at least one year. Miscreant.

  4. Why is the saraki side looking for all means to frustrate this trial. From high court to court of appeal to supreme Court and back to high court, then the bill to cut the powers of the cct and now this. It is obvious this guy is guilty beyond words, if not watin dey there to clear ur name if u sure say u innocent.

  6. Dandadi Umar is not fit to try SARAKI, It is a case of pot calling kettle black. He has been accused of corruption, he should step aside for another judge to convict Saraki. At least he has done his part and has been freed by EFCC, Equity demands that he should not be the judge in this case. CHIKENA!

    2. Senseless sense you mean? If Danladi is to step aside because of an alleged bribery allegation ( 1 count "charge") Then, Saraki with documented evidence of alleged corruption ( Over 13 count charge and still counting)is not qualify to be called a senator any longer let alone continue to call himself the senate president, he should not have only stepped aside but resigned completely... The man SARAKI is just too shameless (Hopping from accused box daily to the senate chamber) and Agabi a former Justice "leader" of Nigeria a bigger fool for representing him. If any honorary "plank" has ever been presented to this Man (Agabi) by the Nigeria government, i think he should be stripped of them all... Ministry of justice please note

    3. Anonymous 8:48 u know nothing about being a lawyer,if not you will not talk rubbish...you don't choose who to represent, after it's all about proving your case...havnt u seen an innocent man being convicted in court, just because the defense counsel can't prove his case..am not in support of saraki, but I still maintain the judge should have done the honourable thing by stepping aside, another judge can still convict saraki,if he is guilty...

  7. I can see very clearly now that, you belong to that your father called SARAKI, no way; DANLADI will finish his work because he started it, SARAKI must pay for his action, you wait and see, MUMU.

  8. You have to remove Umar because if he is not 100 percent clean they will go back an quash any verdict and we don't need such risk. Nigerians think without being too emotional

  10. The only problem I have with Mr. danladi is that he allows so much disrespect and insult on the the judiciary. I have never seen before where a lawyer has the gut to shout and disobey a judge. I have not seen except in CCT. Yet these morons go scot free. No scapegoat is made out of any of them. We can learn from south Africa. Please stop this ridicule now.
