Super Falcons Coach Wants More Efforts from Team After AWCON Ticket

Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi has expressed her desire for her team to improve in time for the tournament in Cameroon after qualifying for this year’s African Women’s Championship.

Nigeria beat Senegal 2-0 in Abuja on Tuesday to go through to Cameroon 2016 on a 3-1 aggregate.

The Falcons created several chances but their strikers struggled to finish them off leaving midfielders Rita Chikwelu and Osarenoma Igbinovia to get on the scoreboard.

“We still have a lot to work on and the final tournament will be a different ball game and it will be a lot tougher with the likes of top teams like Cameroon and South Africa all aiming to be champions,” said Omagbemi.

"We have a lot to do to recapture our position as the best in Africa."

“This is a new team and we hope to improve before the championship,” added Arsenal Ladies star Asisat Oshoala.

Nigeria have won the continental championship a record nine times and are the defending champions after they defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the 2014 final.

The tournament in Cameroon will kick off from November 19.
