Real won the quarter-final second leg 3-0 at the Bernabeu to complete a 3-2 aggregate success following their 2-0 loss to the Bundesliga outfit last week.
Real started brightly and Wolfsburg barely had a touch of the ball in the opening exchanges. The visitors appeared to be happy to sit back and let the Spaniards have all the possession but their tactics backfired when Ronaldo scored two quick-fire goals.
Sergio Ramos had already seen a header come back into play off the top of the bar before, in the 16th minute, Ronaldo tapped Dani Carvajal's cross into the net. The former Manchester United star then headed Toni Kroos' corner home while Diego Benaglio did well to deny Karim Benzema as Real threatened to run riot.
Wolfsburg also suffered a blow when Julian Draxler picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Max Kruse before the interval. Real continued to press at the start of the second half with Kruse blocking Ronaldo's shot as the Portugal international looked to complete his hat-trick.
On the hour mark Benaglio was forced to keep out the ball with his legs as it deflected off Josuha Guilavogui before Ramos hit the woodwork for the second time in the match from Kroos' corner, Benaglio eventually scrambling the ball away. With extra time looming it was Ronaldo who won the tie for Real with a free-kick in the 77th minute - his 16th Champions League goal of the season in just ten games.
