According to reports from The Sun, the PDP is preparing Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu as a replacement for Senate President Bukola Saraki if the latter is removed from his position following his corruption trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
There had been a long standing division inside the APC over the Senate President position since June 2015. Recently APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun reportedly said the party doesn't care if it loses the Senate Presidency seat to the opposition.
“We hold meetings everyday and we strategise on the way forward. But many of us were shocked when we read yesterday (Saturday) that the APC was willing to concede the Senate presidency seat to us (PDP). We did not expect it to end like this," a PDP Senator reportedly said.
“We have always stood by Saraki and we will stand by him till the end. But we also need to start putting the interest of our party (PDP) first. We have started talking to ourselves and we have started mounting pressure on Ekweremadu to gear up and be prepared to succeed Saraki. He has been the Deputy Senate President for three times now. PDP will take over and Ekweremadu may just be the man.”

Nonsense!! So that you people continue to make this country your personal estate and frustrate the change we fought for? Keep dreaming PDP, you should first clean up the mess in your party.
ReplyDeleteI do not think the Senate has ever been under the control of APC, that is why they do not bother who emerges.
