Omagbemi Confident of AWCON Progression

Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi has assured that her team will qualify in place of Terenga Lionesses of Senegal in the second leg of their Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja.

Omagbemi was pleased with the 1-1 draw in Dakar and is banking on the home support in Abuja to see off the Senegalese to qualify for Nigeria's tenth appearance at the tournament in Cameroon.

“It was a very physical game and technically, I think the fans are satisfied with what they saw," Omagbemi told the official CAF website.

"It was a game between two good teams, and we had several chances in the first half. We managed to get a draw and we will go back to Abuja to complete what we started. Our goal is to go to Cameroon and defend our title, and that means a good performance in the return leg.”

In Dakar on Friday, the Nigerians went up just before the break through substitute Chioma Wogu but the hosts rallied back through Binta Diakhate five minutes after the break.

The return leg will take place at the National Stadium Complex, Abuja on Tuesday with the winners to qualify for the 2016 AWCON.
