Goodluck Jonathan Wins VANGUARD 'Personality of the Year' Award

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been award the VANGUARD Personality of the Year Award.

Jonathan was singled out for the award because he made Nigeria join the League of Nations with civilised democratic behaviour.

''Almost everything that could be written about him has probably been written but he stands out as a Torchbearer because he not only conceded defeat before the final tally of the votes, but because, by that singular act, Dr Jonathan threw doomsayers off balance by declaring that his political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. This is profound because it is against the grain of political experience in Nigeria for an incumbent to lose election. By this, Dr. Jonathan earned for himself a reserve space among the world’s better appreciated statesmen'', VANGUARD wrote.

Accepting the award, Jonathan noted that Nigerians were more deserving of this honour.

''I thank the editorial board of Vanguard Newspaper for honoring me as their personality of the year 2016. I believe that the people of Nigeria are more deserving of this honour than I am and thus dedicate it to my countrymen and women. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ, '' the former President wrote on Facebook.

  2. The award was bought and paid for. Nigerian journalism has gone to the dogs. Corruption everywhere. Cash and carry awards and university degrees. Jonathan was the most inept leader, an educated fool who should go and hide his head.

  3. Hhm!"Vanguard of my country Nigeria"!!What were you expecting Mr. Jonathan to do then? So, acceptance of defeat before final tally of the votes was the basis of your award, despite the fact that Jonathan knew he was definitely failing the election? It's quite unfortunate that you quickly forgot all the atrocities committed by his administration.
Look! even if He said "No" to the out come of the election result, he wont succeed because 90% of Nigerians were against him and his corrupted govt that did nothing to stop the massive killings of Nigerians by Boko haram members.
