Fashola Appeals To Nigerians To Be Patient Over Epileptic Power Supply

The minister for power, works and housing Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has said government appreciated the challenges Nigerians are facing as a result of the shortfall in electricity supply in the country.

According to him, they also share the pains associated with insufficient electricity supply in the country.

He made a passionate appeal to all Nigerians to exercise patience over the short fall in electricity supply as the current administration intensifies efforts to proffer genuine and permanent solution to the power problems of the country.

The minister made the appeal in Jos yesterday during the official flag off of the distribution of pre-paid meters, transformers and other relevant equipment to consumers from the Jos zone comprising of Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and Benue states

Fashola who was represented by Mr. Bako Muhammed of the Finance department in the ministry said, ‘‘government is appealing to all Nigerians to remain patient and give government a little time because government is coming up with genuine and permanent solutions to the energy crisis.’’

He further stressed that the ongoing reforms in the energy sector is a genuine one that will bring about constant electricity supply to every home in the country.

‘‘But a little more patience from all Nigerians is all government needs to concentrate on plans to bring about the lasting solution.’’

He called on investors in the power sector to be committed and transparent in implementing their own part of agreement for the benefit of electricity consumers.

“The call has become necessary because Nigerians expect nothing less than quality service from the electricity distributing and billing companies all over the country.”

Earlier managing director, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) Muhammed Modibo said, the company is investing N50bn.

  4. People should remind R.Fashola that his statement sometime ago has already passed judgement on their current APC government. He once said: "A serious Government will fix the power problem in six months”- Babatunde Raji Fashola 12/11/2014. Doesn't this mean the APC government is clueless? They have spent over ten months, yet it time to appeal to Nigerians to be patient .... I dey laff!

  6. Fashola (SAN) What are you doing in POWER? Do you think Governing a state is same as Ministerial appointment? Get experts who can work with you rather than giving political promises on what you are not proficient in?

  7. This man is a lawyer not an engineer and beside anybody could have succeeded as Lagos State governor, a ready made state. He needs real experts to succeed in the power sector and not talk talk. The first thing he did as a minister was to ban small generator. Animanu minister
