A court in Jos has sacked the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Amaju Pinnick.
The court also ordered Chris Giwa to assume the leadership of Nigerian football as he was duly elected.
Justice Musa Haruna Kurya of the federal high court Friday morning granted the prayers of Yahaya Adama and Obinna Ogba to not only relist the suit in the tussle of the leadership of the NFF, but also upheld all the previous orders of the court effectively making Giwa the head of the federation until the final determination of the suit.
A top NFF scribe who pleaded anonymity confirmed the news: “I can confirm to you that a high court in has Jos sacked Amaju Pinnick. He and his board members are expected to vacate the office with immediate effect,” he said.
Also, a member of the Giwa-led team, Cheif Rumson Baribote, gave confirmation of news of the sack. He said: “You know the issue has been on for a while, we honoured the former president, nobody wanted to disrespect the court.
“So we went back to court, because in the eye of the law there was nothing like pinnick borad because the board was never recognized. Even the Federal Government released the funds to the Giwa-led board when Nigeria was playing in Calabar.
“The court fixed 30th May for a substantive hearing of the case, but pending the time of the hearing, the court rules that the board is not eligible to remain in office; and therefore should vacate the office and Chris Giwa-led board should take over with immediate effect .”
Chris Giwa is expected to set-up a new board immediately.
