Former Aston Villa star George Boateng believes Watford striker Odion Ighalo is struggling for goals in the Premier League because of the transfer rumours surrounding him.
Ighalo has scored 14 goals in the Premier League, but the last time he scored in the competition was in January.
His goals have caused him to be linked with several top clubs including Chelsea and Atletico Madrid in Spain.
“Sometimes things like transfer rumours can work on a player’s mind, he could be thinking he could soon be playing for another club,” said Boateng, whose roots are in Ghana but has played as a full international for the Netherlands.
Ighalo’s agent has revealed “big clubs” are chasing his player.
Ighalo himself has insisted he is not bothered his goals have dried up at the business end of the league, saying he will continue to work hard.
