Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is out for at least a month after damaging his lateral collateral ligament on international duty with Belgium.
The news is a huge blow to the £32m striker, who has endured a desperate struggle at Anfield since Klopp's arrival.
He complained while away with his country he felt neglected by the Reds boss, with the manager responding yesterday: “It's always the same answer – it's up to the player to change the situation.”
But now the former Villa forward could struggle to start a Reds game again this season with his potential month-long absence making it unlikely he will have time to force his way back into the side.
That is a massive setback, because the forward is desperate to stake a claim to a starting place for Belgium in the Euros, where they are amongst the favourites to lift the trophy.
