The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has criticized Governor Ayodele Fayose over his stance against the establishment of election crimes tribunal to try individuals involved in election frauds.
The party also alleged that the governor was banned by the United States of America government from travelling to the country for his consistent involvement in alleged electoral and fnancial frauds
The governor had last week faulted the plan by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to establish election crimes tribunal to try individuals involved in fraudulent practices and violence during elections saying it was a ploy by the Federal Government to appoint its cronies into as judges to give favourable judgements to the ruling party.
He also said the Federal Government would manipulate the federal institutions, such as the Police, Army, DSS and INEC officials to implicate members of the opposition in such election crimes courts.
In a statement by APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun yesterday, the party said that by opposing the proposal, Fayose was afraid of his own shadow by the way the federal institutions he listed were manipulated to help him win the June 21, 2014 governorship election.
Olatunbosun who noted that it was not surprising that the governor was a lone voice in the opposition to poll crime court said,”We are not surprised that Fayose is afraid of election crimes court because he knows how he emerged as the governor. He is afraid to face the court because he can never win any election without committing fraud and attacking the opposition. ReplyDeleteLike father, like son. Ekiti APC is like the national APC, thrives in propaganda, if in doubt, check also RIVERS STATE APC. Elections have been conducted since, lost and won, instead to allow peace to reign and prepare for next one, they are busy fanning embers of disunity, war and conflicts. Please could someone advise the ruling APC that not all elections must be won by her alone!. Nigeria need peace!
ReplyDeleteThe establishment of the Election Crime Tribunal is highly welcome and would help to restore lasting peace to the political process in this country. Political thugs who engaged in ballot box snatching and other forms of political violence during voting exercises and electioneering campaigns have been encouraged because no one has been made to face the music and sent to jail for his actions. Even when such actions were captured in camera. I will suggest a 5yr jail term for a perpetrator of any election crime offence. With this in place, our election processes would be less violent and more credible. ab
