A robbery suspects was reportedly burnt to death by an angry mob at the Satellite town area of Lagos State.
According to Dolapo Badmos, spokesman of the Lagos state police command, the incident occurred when the suspect, who the police shot in the leg after an operation, fell off from a motorcycle while escaping.
She said the suspect and his gang members raided a Matrix Stores in Abule-Ado, Satellite Town, around 2:45pm on Monday.
“They robbed the owner of phones and other valuables but a patrol team attached to Satellite Police Division was quickly mobilised to the scene to engage the hoodlums,” she said.
“In the process, one of the robbers was shot in the leg and a double barrel gun with two unexpended cartridges and all the robbed items were recovered.
“The wounded hoodlum allegedly fell off the motorcycle, while they were escaping and was burnt to death by angry mob before he could be rescued while others escaped.”
He said that effort was in progress to arrest other fleeing hoodlums.
