Convicted ex-Sunderland forward Adam Johnson wants to follow in his mother’s footsteps and become a hair dresser, it has been claimed.
The former Premier League star is hoping to get the £11.50-a-week job cutting lags’ locks in the barber shop at Doncaster’s Moorland Prison.
And his new role would be a massive pay cut from when he used to earn £60,000-a-week playing at Sunderland.
The ex-England international has apparently approached jail bosses to ask if he can start his training as a barber.
A source told The Mirror he was inspired to his new career because his mum Sonia, 51, used to cut hair.
The source said: “He really fancies a go at it. His mum used to do it so it runs in the family.”
Johnson’s family, including his dad David and sister Faye 23, are all said to regularly visit him inside.
His ex-partner Stacey Flounder’s is also believed to have taken the couple’s daughter Ayla, 14 months, to see him.
