President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed why it is necessary for Nigeria to join the Islamic coalition. He claimed that the coalition with Muslims countries, led by by Saudi Arabia, is aimed at curbing the Boko Haram menace in the country.
Few weeks ago, Buhari had claimed that Nigeria would not be a part of the coalition, only to say the contrary in a recent interview with Aljazeera during the weekend.
“Even if we are not a part of it, we support you,” the President had said at the meeting held in Saudi Arabia in February.
"We are part of it because we have got terrorists in Nigeria that everybody knows, which claims that they are Islamic", he said in the recent interview.
“If there is an Islamic coalition to fight terrorism, Nigeria will be part of it because we are casualties of Islamic terrorism,” Buhari continued.
When asked whether his decision to join the Islamic coalition would appeal to Christians in Nigeria, Mr. President had this to say.
“Why can’t those Christians that complain go and fight terrorism in Nigeria or fight the militants in the south. It is Nigeria that matters, not the opinions of some religious bigots.”
President Buhari enjoined all Nigerians to support the fight against terrorism in spite of their religion and tribal affiliations.

I hope Mr president has good intentions in fighting terrorism and this step isn't a ploy to ultimately turn Nigeria into a one religion country. I have a bad feeling about this. I hope I'm wrong though.
ReplyDeleteSo the National Assembly is just there wasting tax payer's money a bi? I think such a vital matter is supposed to get the nod or approval of the two houses. I am just confused .can someone explain to me. Is this not supposed to be a democracy? Apseeeeeee! Chanji!
ReplyDeleteReligious bigots. You called yourself Precident of the federation and you called the feelings of over 45% of Nigerians and religious bigots. Will Suadi Arabia themselves come here to fight the Boko haram Mr. President? Suadi Arabia has been busy recruiting young Chadians to fight in Yemen and paying milions to the Government there, tell me what he the islamic coalition can do for Nigeria. Nigerian problem is quite different Mr. President. Islamic terrorism have been there in North before Bomo Hara m. Is Boko Haram different from the era of the metaisins that you know? Please educate your brothers in north and teach them to love and accept other faiths in Nigeria. You can count the number religious crisies in Nigeria before Boko Haram,
