In his birthday message to Tinubu, President Buhari remarked that Tinubu’s rising political profile since he was elected a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1992 “is a testimony to his forthrightness, diligence and doggedness, the same qualities that had endeared him to the electorate and given him all-round success as a private sector worker, a businessman and two-term Governor of Lagos State.”
Buhari also commended Tinubu’s visionary leadership style, especially for “creating a formidable opposition party in Nigeria that worked vigorously within a short period to oust a party that had been in power for 16 years”.
The President assured Tinubu that his patriotism and commitment to democracy and good governance, and his generous spirit will always be remembered and appreciated by generations of Nigerians.
He prayed that the Almighty God will grant the Asiwaju long life, good health, wisdom and prosperity as he steadfastly supports efforts to promote the development of Nigeria.

ReplyDeleteJagaban though I never meet you one on one and do not intend to. I appreciate your contribution to the political development of Lagos State, later South West and now the country. The spate of looting could have continued unabated. The fx rate may have gone to roof top. The decay in infrastructure could be hopeless. Boko Haram could have marched to the south. Fashola would not have had meaning. Ambode will not be there, -though he appears to be a revisionist. Wrestling South West from PDP was not an easy task, particularly under OBJ's watch.The transformation of Lagos is so much cherished that Lagosians are unwilling to take risk by voting in PDP. The only residents of Lagos who are blind to the development are the Biafrans-who shall soon go to their country. Tinubu was thoroughly investigated by OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ all the records of the companies rumoured to be owned by him were turned upside down. He beat his detractors to it. At APC's primarily he fought gallantly for Buhari. It doesn't matter whether Buhari abandoned you in as much as you want the public goods to be experienced by all Nigerians. You brought to limelight the likes of Aregbesola,Fashola, Akabueze, Osibajo etc A true leader is one who nurtures more leaders. OBJ will not forget in a hurry the local govt battle like a true yoruba son you buried your pride and apologise to him just for Buhari to succeed.
