Nnamdi Kanu Slams $800m Suit Aganist Federal Government

The detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has slammed an $800 million Dollars suit against the federal government at the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS court in Abuja over what he termed as gross violation of his human rights.

In the suit filed on his behalf on March 2, 2016, by his legal counsel, Hon. Ifeanyi Ejiofor Esq. and Chinwe C. Umeche (Miss) from Ugochinyere Law Chambers, Abuja, the plaintiff, Kanu is seeking a declaration of the ECOWAS court that his arrest and detention since October 14, 2015, torture and his incarceration in the defendants detention centre in flagrant disobedience to several Orders of Court of competent jurisdiction directing his unconditional release, is unlawful, as it constitutes serious breaches of Nigerian’s human rights obligations under the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights; the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and other International Human Rights Treaties to which Nigeria is a State party.

Joined is the suit as second and third defendants are the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF and Minister of Justice, as well as the Director-General of State Security Services, SSS.

  2. No thinking right person would called such a person useless man. It a free world the fact that he expresses his right to speak for a cause he thought 'just' does not make him a useless person. Because l know too well if someone addresses you of been useless l know you won't be happy at all, so stop addressing someone as useless.
