Nigeria's current economic crisis is a blessing in disguise - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says the current economic crisis plaguing the nation is a blessing in disguise.

Buhari said this at the opening ceremony of the International Islamic Conference on Peace and Nation Building in Abuja on Thursday.

The President said that through the hardship, Nigerians would be able to come up with ideas that would in turn lead to development.

He said, “The global economic challenges the world is grappling with today might well turn out to be a blessing for us in Nigeria, because it will stimulate the latent economic opportunities that we have left untapped for decades.

“Poverty breeds disaffection, which in turn leads to crime and lawlessness including confrontation against the State. To checkmate this, we must work hard to lift our economy, engage our youth and rebuild infrastructure.

“We can only achieve these with the full cooperation of all Nigerians and under a stable polity. We are determined to do this and we shall not be deterred.”

Buhari lamented the level of official corruption in the nation, adding that it led to many years of hardship for Nigerians. He, however, promised to do everything possible to curb the menace.

While declaring the conference open, the President commended the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa Iqamatis Sunna and the Muslim World League for the event at a time when the nation is grappling with insecurity.

Buhari, who described Boko Haram as a mindless terrorist organisation, said the Federal Government was winning the fight against insurgency.

He said once the war is over, the government would commission a sociological study to determine the origin, the remote and immediate causes of the movement, its sponsors, its international connections if any, to ensure that measures are taken to prevent a resurgence.

I guess you may dreamer. Nigerians are tired of long time speculation on what Buhari has for this country.
Who did he give account of the 4 months oil sales when he was the sole NNPC sole sdministtator before appointing his saintic ministers?

  9. Is quite unfortunate for most especially the youth of this country. I wonder why we can't sit and analyse our problem, every Nigerian is a problem to others.I remb during apc campaign dey made mention of many tinz they can not do. Buhari is a good man no doubt but stil having the problem Ex president Jonathan had. U can't be fighting corruption when your immediate people surrounding you are the corrupt themselves. Its so sad that bcos of peanut and empty promises that politicians gives to youth they turn blind n refuse to see the truth.I want a situation when a 45yr old man begins to rule dis country,if not so,dose old fools wil keep deceiving us.we all thought Nigeria is gonna be better under dis admin but we can see now that its all a joke. The first thing Fashola could think of as a minister was to increase Electricity Bills to 50%,making it 21.3 per unit from 11naira. Basic socail amenities are the right of citizens and not for the Government to start extorting from poor nigerians again, ppl that can not even afford 2square meal in a day u expect such a person to pay such huge amount for Electicity. Light, road, water and Education are suppose to be federal government responsibities. The citizens are suppose to pay less and enjoy it more. If d government feels there is no money to fix it then why can't they make use of all the bail money efcc av be collecting from people. Our politicians are failure to us,we vote them to serve us but we endup serving them. They make decisions without respecting or considering the poor man, bcos they have enrich all there families with our stolen money they don't care if you die on the road,if u die as a result of no light and so on. The main aim for a politician is to affect the life of the poor positively bt instead they prefer to even steal from the poor. My opinion is that President Buhari should terminate Fashola's appointment bcos he as showed Nigerian that he's a worthless being who doesn't care for his people.Tinubu is the highest landlord in Africa, yet many Nigerians are suffering, how many room do one sleep in a night? Have never see in the Western world when government use toll gate to extort money from his citizen, please people of Nigeria, make una ask Tinubu if he is the owner of Lekki-ajah express road, why did he put toll gate dere and collecting huge amount of money from motorist, that is a government that suppose to serve us ooo. Ask fashola again if he is the owner of new lekki penesula bridge that link to Banana island? Why using toll gate there again to thief from Nigerians. The money use in making those project aren't from there pocket bt the citizen's wealth yet he collect the money to enrich himself. My problem is,if Buhari thinks is a good man why not go against this act,why allowing some particular set of politicians to suffer us. Charity begins at home,if he can't ( Buhari ) clear the mess surrounding him then I'm sorry to say that he doesn't have a single plan for Nigerian. Let's all the youth stand up and revoke anything bad, revoke any politician who doesn't care about the poor. Someone pays his electical Bill for jan and feb, then they brought pre-paid to start extorting from the poor again. The prepaid was installed wit 100unit inside it,imagin they will still collect money from you, saying you most pay for the 100unit before u can start recharging ur pre-paid. You will av to pay another 500naira before the official will stamp your form. How can the government expect a poor man to pay N2130.00 to pay for 100unit that can't even last him for 16days using 3ceiling fans alone. This extortion as got to end. Pls forward this to every contact on r fone until it gets to the oga's ontop.
