By Ernies Sophia,
We all know how
daring it is during rush hours, the cars are uncountable, impatient drivers are not willing to slow
down, passengers turn to experts in directing drivers on how to escape the
traffic grid and angry late workers are seen cursing and praying to escape the hours.
Sometimes, we are scared of being caught during this time especially when we
have interviews or appointments to keep.
It is no secret
that rush hour has become a sort of misnomer. No one seems to be in rush when
the roads get blocked because it would no longer be possible for cars to move
in the bumper to bumper scenario. There
are cities that these rush hours can be bad and there are cities where they can
even be worse.
Lagos
The discomfort
that is experienced during Lagos rush hours can only be experienced and not
explained. It can linger for hours and sometimes, passengers abandon buses and
cars to do the rest of the movement by trekking. Lagos has the dubious honour
of having the country’s worst traffic.
On average a day, drivers may spend more half of the time struck in
traffic. During the peak hours; morning and evening times, the traffic grid
gets worse and most times, terrifying to commuters.
Port Harcourt
There are no BRT
buses that may help you escape rush hours in Port Harcourt. The rush hours in
the city seem to be all day because there is hardly a time that you are not
caught with angry and impatient drivers trying to escape from been struck on
the road. However, it is not something to experience in the morning and evening
especially if you are not familiar with some few escape routes in the city.
Aba
The roads in the
city of Aba are currently undergoing reconstruction which is a great news to
the residents but this in no way has changed the fate of those who are going to
drive in some major parts of the city during rush hours. The city has this
unique way of doing things at once. In the morning, everyone is rushing to work
and school while in the evening, most people do not want to stay outside beyond 6pm on the road.
Onitsha
There was a
time; Onitsha was greatly dared by commuters. Not that the rush hours have
disappeared entirely from the city.
People can spend hours without moving from the high bridge to the city
when the traffic is at its worse in the morning or evening.
Enugu
With the
numerous escape routes in Enugu, the rush hours still have the field day some
days. It may not be as terrible as
Onitsha during rush hours but it can still get commuters impatient.
Apart from these
cities, there are other cities where you may want to avoid during the rush
hours like Owerri, Ibadan and many others. However, if you are leaving Nigeria,
we would want to stay clear of thee following cities; Bangkok, Istanbul ,Rio de
Janeiro, Moscow, Salvador ,Recife ,Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York ,
Seattle, Honolulu and Miami.

Na Jonathan cause am...where is Lai.All Nigeria's problem from colonial era to this day na Jonathan and Deziani cause am. The Apc style of governance be that. To blame others but themselves for any problem. They can never acknowledge that anyone has done any good in any way. Party of clueless incompetent noise makers on a vendetta. They have now told us that they will put man in space by 2030 when Nigerians are dying of hunger and hardship brought about by their visionlessness. To put man in space for what? Should that be the priority? Tomorrow they will say that they are not magicians. Useless visionless and incompetent people. Apseee! Chains! Apc - All Promise Cancelled.
