Nigeria Police Spends N600m On Purchase of Dogs - IG Solomon Arase

The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr Solomon Arase, recently revealed that the Nigerian Police Force had spent over N600 million on the purchase and maintenance of foreign dogs in the last few years.

The IG made this disclosure at the Police sniffer-dogs inauguration of the Police Dog Breeding Centre and Ultra Modern Mounted Troop in Abuja on Thursday.

“This is certainly not sustainable in the face of the current dwindling resources,” Arase said.

He added that so much money was being spent on the importation of dogs from foreign countries that rarely adapt to the country's policing objectives.

The police boss claimed that the newly inaugurated centre was built to to save the nation some foreign exchange that would have gone into the procurement of foreign dogs.

  3. THIS IS LAUGHABLE AND INCREDIBLE! I AM HAPPY THE INSPECTOR GENERAL HAS DECIDED TO PUT AN END TO SUCH HUGE SPENDING ON FOREIGN DOGS. NOW THAT OUR FOREIGN EXCHANGE HAS BEEN ADVERSELY AFFECTED, SUCH UNWISE SPENDING SHOULD STOP FORTHWITH AND LET US LEARN TO UTILIZE IN TERMS OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE WISELY. APPRECIATE YOUR GOOD GESTURE, MR.ARASE!
